Peter Gisborn has been involved with horses his entire life and is a 4th generation horseman. His involvement began at his family’s own Shady Hill Farm; a successful riding school and show stable in Caledonia, ON. In addition to growing up with and learning from his father Jack Gisborn, who competed internationally in show jumping for Canada, Peter is fortunate enough to have trained under other talented professionals such as Mac

Cone, Kim Kirton, and Susan Schoellkopf of12106835_1479459619027808_3446294045044879461_n SBS Farms one of the U.S.’s top hunter and equitation stables. During his junior career
Peter saw much success in the hunter, jumper and equitation rings including success in the very competitive Maclay medals and qualifying for the national finals. Unfortunately Peter was unable to compete at the finals after breaking his leg playing football.

Peter’s Horses

Dear Peter, I wanted to take this opportunity to extend my appreciation at how you worked so hard to ensure my horse proper management and training. I really appreciate you consulting me regarding what is the next step of training level for "Kieffer". It is a pleasure working with you professionally an I look forward to the next show season. Thank you for your time and staffs good work ethic. - Nicole Garrow

I have worked with Peter for over 6 years and during that time I have learned a great deal. Having ridden in the amateur hunter ring for many years the first thing I learned was how to ride a jumper! I had toyed with the notion the year before starting to train with Peter but he gave me the tools and the confidence to embrace it - I only wish I’d done it 20 years ago! Peter’s program is built on a solid foundation of flat work upon which he insists. One thing I especially like about him as a coach – being an ”older amateur” is that he doesn’t treat you with "kid gloves" (as if you’re 90 and out to pasture) or patronize you – he’ll push you to up your game no matter your age. Two years ago I had a game changing accident and wasn’t sure if I would ever get back on. Today I am back in the tack and looking forward to the competitive season in both the hunter and jumper rings thanks to his incredible patience, encouragement and ability to get the right partnership under you. Finally he is just a really nice person – Willa Gauthier

When I first arrived at PJG Enterprises, I was a bit of a mess. I had been showing my 1.0 meter jumper with little finesse. Along the way Peter taught me the importance of a proper foundation for my riding and always pushes me and my horse to be at my best. Everyone at PJG has always been friendly, extremely supportive, and I have never gone a day without help. Presently, Peter has been helping me with a young hunter. Without him I'm sure that this mare and I would have never have progressed as much as we have. I have never gotten anything but encouragement and success from Peter, and as a young rider, with so much to learn, I know that I found the right place with Peter and the whole team at PJG. - Ashley Hill

As a long time client of PJG, I can safely say, we are as happy with our decision to move there now as we were five years ago. The care of the horses is top notch, the coaching superb, and the atmosphere uplifting. Peter and Brittany provide an environment where rider and mount are given all the tools needed to achieve the best possible results in both the hunter and jumper ring. Their extensive network of contacts in North America and Europe make them a great choice if you are looking for a quality horse, whatever your budget is. I don’t hesitate to recommend them to anyone. - Rick Bell
